Footage transfers to your phone over Wi-Fi through the Garmin Drive app.

Questions & answers

Do I need to buy a memory card?

The camera records to a microSD card, and Garmin recommends a Class 10 or faster card.

Dash cams write constantly, so a card rated for high-endurance video will outlast a cheap general-purpose one.

Will it keep recording while the car is parked?

Only with Parking Guard, which needs the optional parking mode cable wired to a constant power source.

On the standard 12 V cable the camera powers down with the ignition.

Does it record sound inside the car?

Yes, audio recording is on by default and can be switched off in the Garmin Drive app.

Some states require all parties to consent to being recorded, so check the rule where you drive.

How do I get footage off it?

Connect your phone to the camera's Wi-Fi through the Garmin Drive app, then browse, download, and share clips from there.

You can also pull the microSD card and read it on a computer.

Where should I mount it?

Behind the rear-view mirror, high on the windshield, where it sits inside the wiper sweep but out of your sightline.

Clean the glass with alcohol before pressing the adhesive mount on, and route the cable along the headliner and down the A-pillar trim.
