Sucker Punch moved its Ghost series three centuries forward and several hundred miles north. You play Atsu, a mercenary who returns to Ezo, now Hokkaido, in 1603 to hunt the six outlaws who destroyed her family. The open world is built around chasing rumours picked up from travellers rather than following markers dropped on a map.

Combat runs on five weapon types, each one answering a different enemy stance, so duels reward switching mid-fight instead of settling into one rhythm. The free Legends update added two-player story missions and four-player survival matches to the same disc.

Questions & answers

Will this disc work on a PS5 Digital Edition?

Not on its own. This is a Blu-ray disc, so it needs a PS5 with a drive. The PS5 Pro and the disc-drive PS5 Slim both read it, and a Digital Edition with the add-on disc drive attached works too.

Do I need to have played Ghost of Tsushima first?

No. It is a new story with a new protagonist, set roughly 300 years after Tsushima and in a different part of Japan. Nothing from the first game carries over beyond the general style of play.

Is the Legends co-op mode on the disc?

Legends arrived as a free update in March 2026, so it downloads as a patch rather than sitting on the disc. Install the game, let it update, and the mode appears in the main menu.

Can I play it in Japanese with subtitles?

Yes. A full Japanese voice track is included alongside English, and the facial animation was authored for the Japanese performance, so the lip sync holds up when you switch.

Is there a PS4 version?

No. Ghost of Yotei was built for PS5 only, so it does not run on a PS4 and there is no PS4 disc.
