Product details

The Arc Ultra is Sonos's flagship single-bar home theater. Fourteen drivers and fifteen Class-D amplifiers produce a 9.1.4 Dolby Atmos field, with two tweeters firing upward for height and two firing sideways to bounce sound off the side walls.

The real change from the original Arc is Sound Motion, a woofer driven by four opposing motors that moves far more air than its thickness suggests, so the bar carries its own low end without a subwoofer. Trueplay tunes the output to your room from an iPhone or an Android phone.

Standard shipping is free on orders over $35. Returns are accepted within 90 days of delivery in original condition.

Questions & answers

Do I need a subwoofer with it?

No. The Sound Motion woofer gives the Arc Ultra roughly twice the bass of the original Arc, so it stands on its own. Adding a Sonos Sub deepens the low end and frees the bar to focus on mids and dialogue.

What if my TV has ARC but not eARC?

It still works over standard ARC, but ARC cannot carry lossless Dolby TrueHD or full-bandwidth Atmos. You will get compressed Dolby Digital Plus Atmos instead of the lossless version.

Can I wall mount it?

Yes. The cabinet has mounting points on the back, and Sonos sells a dedicated Arc Ultra wall mount separately. The bar should be centered under the screen with the up-firing drivers unobstructed.

Does it work with Google Assistant?

No. The Arc Ultra supports Sonos Voice Control and Amazon Alexa. Google Assistant is not available on it.

Does Trueplay tuning work on Android?

Yes. The Arc Ultra has microphones on board, so Quick Tuning runs from the Sonos app on Android as well as iOS. Advanced Tuning, where you walk the room with the phone, remains iOS only.
