What do I give up compared with the iPhone 17 Pro?

The iPhone 17 has two rear cameras instead of three, so there is no dedicated telephoto lens. It uses the A19 rather than the A19 Pro, and it has no vapor chamber, which matters mainly for long recording or gaming sessions.

Does it really start at 256GB?

Yes. The base configuration is 256GB, with a 512GB option above it. There is no 128GB tier in this generation.

Can I use it with any US carrier?

This is the unlocked model and works on all three major US networks. Activation is by eSIM, which you can transfer from a previous iPhone during setup.

Is a charger in the box?

No. The box has the phone, a USB-C cable and documentation. Any USB-C adapter works, but a 40W or higher one is needed for the fastest charging.

Does the always-on display drain the battery quickly?

The panel drops to 1Hz when idle, so the always-on clock and widgets use very little power. You can also turn the feature off entirely in Display settings.
