Questions & answers

Do I need to add ice?

No. The cylinder does the freezing, so you pour in liquid at room temperature or from the fridge. Adding ice only dilutes the drink and slows the cycle down.

Can I make sugar-free drinks in it?

Ninja's recipe guide sets a minimum sugar level because sugar is what keeps the mixture soft rather than solid. Diet mixers and unsweetened juice tend to freeze too hard, so follow the guide's ratios or add a sweetener.

How long until the first drink is ready?

Usually fifteen to sixty minutes. Cold liquid and a smaller fill are quickest; a full vessel of room-temperature mixture with alcohol in it sits at the long end.

Does it handle cocktails?

Yes, that is what the Spiked Slush preset is for. Alcohol lowers the freezing point, so the machine runs colder and longer on that setting. Very high-proof mixes may never fully set.

How is it cleaned between batches?

Run the built-in rinse cycle with water for a change of flavour. For a full clean the vessel, auger, drip tray and spout shroud all come apart and go in the dishwasher.
