The Detect Pro answers the main complaint about cordless vacuums, which is emptying them after every room. It stands in a two-litre base that pulls the dust out of the bin and charges the battery at the same time, so the dock only needs attention every month or so.

Four sensing behaviours sit behind the Detect name. It lifts suction when it meets a heavier patch of dirt, adjusts between carpet and hard floor, brightens the headlights in dark corners and boosts pickup along edges. The QuadClean brushroll clears its own wrapped hair as it turns.

Questions & answers

How often does the dock actually need emptying?

The base holds two litres, which is several times the vacuum's own bin. For an average home most people change the dock contents every four to six weeks rather than after every clean.

Is the dock noisy when it empties?

It runs a short burst of suction when you re-dock the vacuum, loud for a few seconds and then done. It is not something you would run in a room while someone is sleeping.

Does the battery come out for charging or replacement?

Yes. The battery is removable, so it can charge off the machine and can be swapped for a spare if you want to clean a larger home in one go.

What does EdgeDetect do differently?

It senses when the head is running alongside a wall or skirting and shifts airflow toward that side, which is where cordless vacuums normally leave a visible line of dust.

What is the odour neutraliser puck for?

It clips into the dock and sits with the collected dust so the base does not develop a smell between emptyings. Replacements are sold separately and last a few months.
