Product details

This is the keyboard that turns a 13-inch iPad Pro into a laptop for the afternoon. The iPad snaps onto the magnetic hinge and floats above an aluminium palm rest, and the cantilever holds any angle you set without wobbling on a lap.

The keys are backlit with 1 mm of scissor travel and there is a full 14-key function row for brightness, volume and playback. Below them sits a glass trackpad with haptic feedback, which makes text selection and spreadsheet work far less fiddly than tapping the screen.

A USB-C port on the hinge takes the charging cable, leaving the iPad's own port free.

Questions & answers

Which iPads does it fit?

Only the 13-inch iPad Pro with the M4 or M5 chip. The magnets, camera cut-out and hinge geometry changed with that generation, so 11-inch models, iPad Air and the older 12.9-inch Pro will not seat correctly.

Does it need charging or pairing?

No. Power and data run through the Smart Connector on the back of the iPad, so it works the moment the iPad snaps on and never carries its own battery.

Can I still charge the iPad while typing?

Yes. Plug the charger into the USB-C port on the hinge. That port only carries power, so external drives and displays still go into the iPad's own port.

Can I use the Apple Pencil with it attached?

Yes. The magnetic strip along the iPad's side stays clear, so the pencil charges and stores in place, and the iPad lifts off the hinge whenever you want to draw flat.

Does it protect the iPad in a bag?

It closes into a folio that covers the screen and the back. The sides stay open, so a knock on a corner still reaches the aluminium.
