The eero 7 is the least expensive way into Wi-Fi 7 on this line. It is dual-band rather than tri-band, so it skips the 6GHz radio, but it keeps multi-link operation, which lets a device use the 2.4 and 5GHz bands together for a steadier connection.

A single node covers about 2,000 square feet and handles 120 or more connected devices, and two 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports match internet plans up to 2.5 Gbps.

Setup runs through the eero app, and any earlier eero can join the same mesh.

Questions & answers

Is one unit enough for my home?

Each node covers roughly 2,000 square feet in typical construction. Larger homes, or ones with thick walls and multiple floors, are better served by a two- or three-pack, and nodes can be added later.

Does it replace my internet provider's router?

It plugs into your modem and takes over routing and Wi-Fi. If your provider supplied a combined modem-router, put that box into bridge mode first to avoid running two routers at once.

Is Wi-Fi 7 worth it without the 6GHz band?

You still get multi-link operation, wider channels and the newer efficiency features, which help on busy networks. The 6GHz band, which mainly benefits very high-speed plans, needs eero Pro 7.

Can I add it to my existing eero network?

Yes. It joins any current eero network from the app and works as an extra node or as the gateway, alongside older eero models.

Do I need an eero Plus subscription?

No. The router works fully without it. eero Plus is optional and bundles content filtering, ad blocking, a VPN and a password manager.
